Weekly progress and questions
In this page, the weekly progress, goals and any questions or concerns that arose during the week are recorded. This page is updated weekly and all team members provide individual contributions to this page. There are no hard deadlines set by the team or project supervisors for when the page is updated. However, the team will ensure to update the page by every Friday evenings.
Semester 1: Week 1
Andreas
- Week 1 progress:
- Participated in team meeting.
- Background reading into CNN and other research articles relating to the project.
- Goals for week 2:
- Attend team meeting.
- Complete and submit meeting minutes.
- Discuss Project Management Plan with the team and distribute work accordingly.
Mohammad
- Week 1 progress:
- Contacted with partner
- Prepared for the first meeting with supervisor
- Searched background information about the project
- Literature review
- Goals for week 2:
- Attend the team meeting.
- Complete and submit meeting minutes with the group.
- Discuss and start on the Project Management Plan with group to have a draft ready by early week 3.
- Continue on the literature review.
Nivin
- Week 1 progress:
- Team meeting with team members, Andreas and Mohammad.
- Started reading the project description to understand the project scope and deliverables.
- Preliminary reading into previous studies about the research topic conducted.
- Set up OneDrive folders for the project, allowing team members to share documents and collaborate effectively.
- Goals for Week 2:
- Organise a meeting with project supervisors and team members. Obtain relevant resources required for the project.
- Review the Project management plan template and started working on the allocated sections.

- Week 2 progress:
- Participated in team meeting and completed meeting minutes.
- Individual sections for the Project Management Plan were assigned to each team member.
- Further research conducted into Data pre-processing techniques.
- Completed Work Breakdown Structure for Project Management Plan.
- Helped complete Technical Objectives for Project Management Plan.
- Goals for week 3:
- Complete Gantt chart for Project Management Plan.
- Help finalise Project Management Plan for submission.
- Complete Technical Resources Quiz.
Mohammad
- Week 2 progress:
- Participated in the team meeting and helped to completed meeting minutes.
- Discussed about the Project Management Plan with the team and specific section assigned to each member.
- Further background research conducted specially into Data pre-processing techniques.
- Completed Resources and Procurement for the Project Management Plan.
- Assisted mutually to complete the Technical Objectives for Project Management Plan.
- Goals for week 3:
- Continue working on Project Management Plan and complete Project Risks for Project Management Plan.
- Assist the group in preparing a draft for the supervisor and review the draft for final submission.
- Assist the group in completing Technical Resources Quiz.
Nivin
- Week 2 progress:
- Meeting conducted with the project supervisors and team members.
- Project aims, scope and deliverables were outlined by the project supervisors. The required dataset for analysis, along with supporting documentations, online courses for Image Classification using Python, were also provided by the supervisors.
- Further reading into research topic conducted.
- Started working on the sections of the Project Management Plan Report.
- Created notebooks for the project using Google Colab, an online Python interactive environment that provides free back-end GPUs.
- Began Exploratory Data Analysis on the dataset.
- Goals for Week 3:
- Continue working on the Project Management Plan and by Week 3 Monday, have a draft prepared for Professor Derek.
- Do more background reading to develop more knowledge on the research topic and understand the common machine learning models used for image classification problems.
- Review the documentations and complete the online courses mentioned by the project supervisors.

- Assisted to prepare a draft for the Project Management Plan.
- Contributed to completing the technical objectives for PMP document.
- Created a flow-chart diagram, outlining the overall methodology for the X-ray image classification.
- Helped prepare draft version of the PMP document.
- Performed a review on the final document of PMP.
